Clothing brand, Rooster, have been announced as sponsors of The Green Blue University Sailing Sustainability Challenge 2022-23.

The Green Blue are excited to announce ethical and sustainable outdoor clothing brand, Rooster, as the new sponsor of The Green Blue University Sailing Sustainability Challenge. Selected for their environmental principles and innovative product designs, Rooster are an excellent fit for the ethos of the Challenge, as RYA Sustainability Officer, and challenge coordinator, Olivia Wells, explains:

“We’re thrilled to be able to welcome Rooster as the new sponsor of the University Sailing Sustainability Challenge. We were keen to partner with a business which echoed The Green Blue’s aim of inspiring sustainable recreational boating, so Rooster’s core business principles were an ideal fit.”

“The support of Rooster will enable us to deliver the Challenge with the ethical consumer at its heart. Working with a sponsor who have sustainable and ethical credentials has been important to us and, we believe to the students. Much like Rooster, The Green Blue is interested in supporting innovative sustainable products which have less impact on our planet, so we’re really looking forward to working with them on the Challenge.”

In total, twenty-one university sailing clubs (USCs) have signed up to take on the Challenge, which includes environmentally friendly actions ranging from eliminating single-use plastic from events, raising awareness of important green issues, to following environmental best practice whilst on the water. Commenting on the partnership, Luke Morrison, Managing Director at Rooster, said:

“It is great to be supporting The Green Blue’s University Sailing Sustainability Challenge. Instilling awareness at all levels concerning our environment and the impact we have on the world is the most important thing right now. For Rooster, as a technical clothing sportswear manufacturer, sustainability is not only at the heart of our product developments, but also at the core of our company through social, economic, and environmental practices to best shape our future.”

The USCs have until February to complete their challenge criteria before the successful clubs are invited to the award ceremony at the RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show 2023. Each award-winning USC will be entered into a cash prize draw, sponsored by Rooster, which will be drawn at random and shared across each award level.
