The Green Blue to return to Southampton International Boat Show

Don’t miss The Green Blue’s hands-on activities and educational talks at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show (15 – 24 September).

The Green Blue will be bringing a wealth of environmentally friendly products, handpicked from The Green Blue’s online Business Directory, to its stand in Ocean Hall (J119). Visitors can handle the products and learn more about their sustainable features. Products include rope created from recycled materials, filters to prevent water pollution, and environmentally friendly on-board cleaning materials.

The Green Blue team will be on hand to answer questions on all topics related to sustainable boating.A group of people are looking visiting the stand. You can also collect a free resources pack containing practical advice on how to protect our coastal and inland waterways when getting afloat.

Seagrass restoration

Visitors will also be able to get a sneak preview of the new seagrass awareness boards, created as part of the LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES Project (Natural England, RYA & The Green Blue, Ocean Conservation Trust, Marine Conservation Society, Plymouth Council). The boards will be dotted across marinas in the Solent area later this year.

You can also catch The Green Blue on the Foredeck Stage, discussing seagrass restoration and protection as part of a panel discussion with representatives from the Royal Yachting Association, Project Seagrass, Natural England, the Wildlife Trust and the World Wildlife Fund.

Make your Pledge

Last year saw the launch of The Green Blue Boating Pledge at the Show. To celebrate the Pledge’s firstA woman is looking at the Pledge pack anniversary, all those making their Pledge during the Show will be entered into an exciting prize draw to win a bundle of sustainable cleaning products from biotech cleaning company, Washdown. By making their Pledge, boat users can show their commitment to ‘Respect, Protect, and Enjoy’ our inland and coastal waters.

Visitors to The Green Blue stand will also get the chance to win a pack of rope made from recycled polyester by English Braids. Simply guess the tonnage that the Advanced Mooring System displayed on the stand can hold and you could be a winner.

Kate Fortnam, The Green Blue, Campaigns Manager, said:

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming visitors to The Green Blue stand (J119). We have a variety of educational and slightly competitive activities themed on our work as part of the LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES Seagrass Project partnership.

“We’re also encouraging visitors to make their Boating Pledge at the Show; as regular water users, we must respect and protect the blue spaces we value. Plus, everyone who makes their Pledge during the Show will be entered into a prize draw, sponsored by Washdown.”
