ePropulsion unveils revolutionary X40 Electric Outboard Motor at Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

An electric outboard

The new cutting-edge ePropulsion X40 Electric Outboard Motor weighs 20% lighter than conventional motors and delivers a remarkable 40 kW power output.

ePropulsion, a global leader and market challenger in marine electric propulsion systems and services, unveiled the X40 at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show with its industry-leading 88.2% total powertrain efficiency. Thanks to ePropulsion’s proprietary algorithms, the X40’s propellers achieve unparalleled hydrodynamic efficiency by optimising over 20 key variables. This results in smoother motoring and even more energy-efficient performance.

Compact, integrated design

Beyond its exceptional performance, the X40 showcases a sleek, compact design. It consolidates electric steering, power trim/tilt, Electric Control Unit (ECU), and motor controller into a single unit. This allows for maximum use of stern space, whether for commercial or leisure activities. The ePropulsion Smart System Architecture (eSSA) ensures easy, safe and reliable configuration of the X40’s propulsion system. Its modular structure also allows for seamless integration with renewable energy sources, enhancing your sustainable boating.

Intuitive, advanced control systems

The X40 features an intuitive and user-friendly control interface, well-suited for both those new to boating and experienced boaters alike. Its digital helm and smart throttles provide real-time digital feedback. The electric steering system removes the necessity for hydraulic components, providing a streamlined, low-maintenance design. In addition, the digital steering is a gateway to ePropulsion’s suite of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems, enhancing safety and control features that will revolutionise your time on the water.

Innovative features

The X40 sets itself apart with vibration dampening technology and frequency resonance isolation, significantly reducing vibrations and noise levels when compared to conventional outboards. The state-of-the-art Connectivity Service further enhances the boating experience by providing real-time status updates, advanced monitoring, reporting, and precise trip tracking.

Safety and compliance

The X40 is built to endure harsh marine conditions, boasting a reliable 96V electrical platform in compliance with the latest IEC standards. It is IP67 waterproof and promises a minimum service life of 5,000 hours.

Accessory compatibility

A broad range of accessories are compatible with the X40, including the ePropulsion Smart Throttle, Digital Helm, Smart Display, Propellers, G102-100 Battery, Battery Charger, Solar Charger Controller, MPPT, and DC-DC.

“The X40 is the next evolution in electric outboards of its size, showcasing the highest level of ePropulsion’s R&D capacity,” said Danny Tao, CEO and Co-founder of ePropulsion. “We are always looking to innovate, not just to match what is available for standard internal combustion outboards, but to move beyond their capabilities and provide real, enhanced performance, while also providing a quiet, clean, and powerful alternative for propulsion.”

The X40 will be on display at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, booth 2014 in the Broward County Convention Center, from 25 to 29 October.
