Deacons Marina to host Flare Amnesty Day

Two women inspecting flares

Boatfolk has announced a Flare Amnesty Day at its marina in Bursledon.

Boatfolk will be giving recreational boaters a safe and convenient way to dispose of out-of-date flares this weekend. The flare amnesty will take place at Deacons Marina on 23 March, between 10am – 4pm. The event is being held in partnership with retailers, SeaGo.

Prices start from £1 for the safe disposal of unwanted flares.

There will also be an opportunity for recreational boaters to bring along their lifejackets for a free safety check from the RNLI.

Remember: abandoning expired flares at police and fire stations, or anywhere else, amounts to illegal dumping and is potentially a criminal offence. Due to the nature of the substances within the flares, they are classified as hazardous goods, and therefore must be disposed of through a licenced organisation.

Event address: Deacons Marina, Bridge Road, Bursledon, Southampton, Hampshire, SO31 8AZ
