Kate Fortnam

Kate Fortnam

Campaign Manager

So what do you actually do?

I discover and provide opportunities to promote an awareness of how boaters can minimise any environmental impact of their recreational boating.  My focus is on delivering interactive sessions, workshops and presentations, and finding new ways to engage the boating public at various events.

What did you do before you joined The Green Blue?

I worked as a Senior Environmental Tutor for a UK outdoor learning company setting up interactive learning experiences to develop the environmental awareness of a variety of groups including schools and universities. After this I went on to enjoy teaching Geography at a secondary school in Somerset for a number of years.

What is the best thing about working for The Green Blue?

The Green Blue gives me the opportunity to combine my two passions I have in life, sailing and the natural environment. It is also rewarding to be part of a dedicated and pro-active team that touches so many areas of the recreational boating community, trying to inspire people to become more environmentally sustainable.

What/where do you sail?

My passion lies predominantly in dinghy and yacht racing mostly in Lyme Regis, Dorset and occasionally around the Ionian Islands in Greece. I enjoy sailing in different types of boats but I can be found sailing mostly in an Albacore, Laser 1 or a Hunter Medina.
