Sustainable Boating Youth Activity Cards

These cards contain a mixture of 14 shore and water based games that RYA instructors can deliver with young boaters on dinghy, kayak, canoe and SUP sessions. Each game aims to communicate a key environmental issue and the good practice that boaters can adopt to protect the wildlife and habitats we share our waters with.

Marine CSI Activity

A stand alone onshore educational activity for sailing clubs/centres, organisations or businesses to run during open days, sailing regattas, youth events or as a session with cadet, Scout and Guide groups.

The activity aims to raise awareness of four key environmental issues and the good practice that boaters can adopt to help safeguard the wildlife and habitats we share our waters with.

Marine CSI covers four environmental boating incidents that participants have to solve through undertaking water quality tests, finger print analysis and unscrambling puzzles to determine who committed each incident from a list of six suspects. Incidents include:

1. An oil spill on a slipway

2. Harmful chemicals have entered the water

3. The introduction of three aquatic invasive species

4. Items of litter that have entered the water

All equipment comes in a loan box and video guidance is provided to demonstrate and explain how to set up and deliver the activity. To book your free Marine CSI loan box please contact info@thegreenblue.org.uk.
